About Pharmacist Guide

Pharmacist Guide is a free, independent site created by Vicki Kong. Its primary aim is to provide health information in an easy to read format and to be a practical guide on managing health.

About Vicki Kong

Vicki Kong is a pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain (GPC). She is keen to make health information easy to read and practical for everyone.
She started this journey when she researched infertility medicines whilst undergoing IVF treatment. Appalled by the lack of accurate and practical information on how to administer IVF medicines, she published her own guides on YouTube. Two healthy and happy daughters later, she is ready to begin the ultimate challenge of building Pharmacist Guide.

Work and Education

Vicki obtained her pharmacy degree from University College London (UCL) School of Pharmacy. She achieved a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Wales and later qualified as an Independent Prescriber from the University of Kent.

She has worked in various NHS hospital trusts and trained in all clinical specialities. She started to focus her writing skills in the Medicines Information department, answering all medicine-related queries for local health professionals, and also writing guidance on the use of new medicines and treatments of medical conditions.

She trained with Astra (now AstraZeneca) and Pfizer and has fond memories of the blue diamond shaped pill that we know as Viagra!

Vicki currently works in the Medicines Management Team for Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge Clinical Commissioning Groups. She is responsible for communicating information on medicines to local GP practices and writes guidance to facilitate safe prescribing.

She is also the author of the local Specials Guide, a reference source on the use of unlicensed medicines and how to administer medicines when a patient has swallowing difficulties or a feeding tube.
